Staff and Vestry

With the retirement of Rev. Reid Hamilton, effective January 1, 2026, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church has begun a formal search process to identify and welcome a new priest. In the interim, we will be served by supply priests and continue on with our regularly scheduled services, meetings and events.

Rev. Dr. Col. Patricia Miller (“Mother Pat’) will be the visiting celebrant (supply priest) for our Sunday worship service at 10:30 AM on January 4, 18, and 25, 2026. She also has graciously agreed to come again for the four Sundays in February – and lead our Ash Wednesday service at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 18.

She is a retired Air Force Colonel, and has a BS and MS in nursing, and a Doctor of Ministry degree, and has spent the last 6 - 10 years serving as the Interim Priest for a several churches, including almost three years at St. Andrew’s almost a decade ago. Mother Pat was a nurse with the US Air Force when she began attending the Episcopal church. (Like many in this parish, Mother Pat was raised in a different Christian denomination.) Mother Pat remained an active nurse when she was called to begin training to be ordained as an Episcopal priest. She served a parish in Colorado and then was vicar and rector for a parish in Missouri for 17 years. Even after ordination, Mother Pat remained involved in nursing, through helping hospitals prepare for their periodic accreditation. Mother Pat retired from the USAF as a colonel. She obtained a master’s degree in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia (in Augusta) and a Master of Divinity from The Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in Texas and a Doctorate in Ministry from St. Paul’s School of Theology in Missouri. For the last 10 years, Mother Pat has served in the Diocese of Atlanta as interim (transitional) rector at four parishes, including at St. Andrew’s as mentioned above.

VESTRY

The vestry is the legal representative of the parish and serves as its governing body. It is composed of elected lay members who work alongside the clergy to ensure the effective operation of the church. The vestry's primary responsibilities include:

  • Financial Management: Overseeing the parish's finances, including budgeting and fundraising.

  • Property Maintenance: Caring for and maintaining church facilities and properties.

  • Leadership Selection: Interviewing and calling a rector, as well as electing delegates to the annual diocesan convention.

  • Mission Support: Helping to define and articulate the mission of the congregation and supporting its activities.

The vestry typically consists of a senior warden, junior warden, treasurer, and secretary, along with other members elected by the congregation. The senior warden often acts as a liaison between the vestry and the rector, while the junior warden may oversee property-related matters. The number of vestry members and their terms can vary by parish, but they are usually elected at the annual parish meeting.
