Safe Church training: UPDATES for 2026
Please review the following Safe Church training updates and share with clergy, staff and relevant volunteers. There is a new link for zoom training registration, and training requirements for renewing Safeguarding God's People have been updated.

In Person & Hybrid Trainings:
Diocesan trainings are scheduled on an as-needed basis and are posted here: https://safechurchatlanta.org/training/
Safeguarding God's Children Training Requirements (no changes):
Safeguarding God's Children must be renewed every three years. All clergy and vestry members are required to complete this training as well as any staff or volunteers who work with/serve in ministries with children or youth. Details here: https://safechurchatlanta.org/sgc/who-needs-sgc-training/
Someone who has never taken the SGC training or did so prior to 2020 is required to attend a 2-hour zoom training and a designated online module; or attend a 3-hour in person training.
Someone who has taken the SGC training since 2020 only needs to complete a designated online module. Nursery workers, preschool and kindergarten teachers do not need to take the full SGC training but have to complete a designated online module. Details here: https://safechurchatlanta.org/preschool/
Safeguarding God's People Training Requirements:
Safeguarding God's People must be renewed every five years. All clergy and vestry members are required to complete this training as well as any staff or volunteers who serve/work with adults. Details here: https://safechurchatlanta.org/sgp/who-needs-sgp-training/Someone who has never taken the SGP training is required to attend a 2-hour zoom training and complete a designated online module; or attend a 3-hour in person training. Someone who has taken the SGP training prior to 2020 is required to attend a 2-hour zoom training (no module required) or attend a 3-hour in person training. NEW: Anyone who has taken the SGP training in 2020 or 2021 only needs to complete a designated online module.
